We don't want to go on about Autumn vibes too much, but we have noticed the nights are getting shorter and just slightly cooler, and it really doesn't take much for us to want to pull out the blankets, pile up the rugs and light all the candles. So, to indulge in this need for it to be winter already, we've rounded up some gorgeous Autumn room ideas and pieces that are perfect for giving your home all the hygge vibes you could wish for…
1. ADD IN SOME WOODLAND HUES
Let's start with an obvious one. Switch up your colour pallet to get in some of those gorgeous, warm autumnal hues. The best way to do this is soft furnishings – we're talking rugs, cushions, curtains, bedding – it's quick and it's cheap. Take this bedroom as an example, to get the look all you need to do it switch up your pillows (these lovely rust ones are ideal), add a few scatter cushions and pile up the throws.
2. RETRO FUSION
This nostalgic trend celebrates and reimages mid-century home interiors and designs from a bygone era. The colour palettes of the 1950s and 70s – greens and mustards – and 1920s Art Deco all fits with this trend of clean lines and contemporary designs combined with brass and wood.
3. GET INSPIRED BY NATURE
It's all very Scandi, the idea of bringing the outside in during the cooler months. Get all the textures going with fur throws, different toned woods and loads of house plants. We love the dark, dramatic look of this bedroom by @bo_decor, but if you don't want to go that far over to the dark side, get some similar vibes, with a dark sheepskin rug, some antler wall decor, loads of house plants and a large round mirror.
4. WORK IN SOME PASTEL COLOURS
This is a trend that will be going hard this Autumn, and while it's not exactly what you would expect of this time of year, we are kind of loving it. It's all about pastel colours, cosmic prints and geometric shapes – perfect if you aren't ready to quite give up on summer yet! The dusky hues of this room featured in Wayfair’s pop-up showroom have us longing for the Palm Springs of California. And that wallpaper? How cool does it look styled with a few metallic pieces and some funky art work?
5. CHOOSE BOLD BLUES FOR A TWIST ON THE TRADITONAL
We are also loving blue this season – it’s a bolder colour than the oranges, greys and browns we associate with this time of year. This Navy Blue media room from Commune Design feels dramatic yet, at the same time, intimate. The warmer woods, bright throw pillows, colourful carpet and rich, textured materials bring depth and warmth to the cooler colour.
